Job Description



The purpose of the role of the SVP of Legal and Compliance is to safeguard the company’s legal and regulatory integrity and to provide legal guidance and support to internal stakeholders. The SVP is a key member of the leadership team, serving as the architect of the legal and compliance function and a trusted adviser to the leadership and the board. This role reports to the CFO and works closely with the CEO. The SVP will be in charge of legal, compliance, and related areas to meet the evolving needs of our customers, employees, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop our legal team, policies, and procedures in a way that delivers consistent, predictable, and high-quality service to business units across the organization.
  • Manage the legal infrastructure (parent company and global subsidiaries), ensuring board and shareholder governance actions and related requirements are executed in accordance with good corporate governance practices.
  • Oversee the company’s risk management and compliance programs, including professional insurance, data protection, cyber security, business continuity, and others.
  • Build and retain in-house competence across commercial matters, M&A and financing, IP, international tax requirements, including corporate taxation and transfer pricing, immigration, and other areas required by the business.
  • Perform other duties as may be required, consistent with the purpose of this role.

Qualifications

  • JD or its equivalent from an English, American, Canadian, or European accredited law school.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated success leading legal teams within an international environment.
  • Experience applying international business, contract, IP, tax, corporate, and common law in a global business environment.
  • Able to set quality standards and apply expert-level legal drafting judgment, with the ability to verify and elevate work completed by the team.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills, with the ability to lead and resolve high-complexity matters and settlements, build trust among stakeholders, and support leadership as a strategic partner.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking). Any other languages are a plus.
  • Experience in professional services and/or IT services business will be a plus.
